HISTORY OF THE  POUND CONFERENCE

download

The Pound conference has over the years garnered enough traction to become an important event in the sphere of global conferences engaged in cutting-edge legal research. The original conference took place over 40 years ago has seen phenomenal growth over the years. The beginning of the pound conference can be traced to the seminal event that took place in the year 1976, in honour of Roscoe Pound, the reforming dean of Harvard Law school, setting the pace for the growth of the conferences into the event that it is today. Mr Pound at the meeting of the American Bar Association outlined the need for reforming existing legal systems to ensure efficiency in the administration of justice.

Professor Mr E. A Sander pushed for creating an alternate form of dispute resolution and highlighted the need for the same to take centre stage in the rapidly globalising world. This led to many changes in the US justice system, including the creation of the “multi-door courthouse” to provide more procedural choices to disputants. Forty years later the various stakeholders of alternate dispute resolution are extremely fragmented, and the problem is further complicated by the lack of actionable data and a general prevalence of information symmetry.

It is in this background that the global pound conference seeks to create a platform where latest ideas in dispute settlement are exchanged and valuable insights into the field are shared by the foremost experts in the business.
