Ashok Barat


Ashok Barat is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He graduated in Commerce from the Allahabad University in 1975 with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and was a rank holder and winner of the A F Ferguson Award for the best paper in Auditing in the examinations conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in November 1978. He began his career with Hindustan Lever Limited (as it was then called) and worked in positions of increasing responsibility, both in India and overseas with Pepsi, Electrolux, Telstra and Heinz. He recently retired as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes & Company Limited. He is the Past President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Trustee on various Public Trusts, and a Member of the Board of Directors of a number of public and private companies.  He was the fromer MD of Forbes and a trained mediator. He is currently a Chief Operating Officer of the leading law firm, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. He is passionate about the cause of promoting Mediation as the most favoured Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanism of choice in the business community. He is working with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry to set up a world-class Mediation Centre.

Justice Lokur


Justice Lokur Born on 31st December 1953.He studied at Modern School,  Obtained LL.B. degree from Faculty of Law, Delhi University in 1977.Enrolled as an Advocate on 28th July 1977. Practiced in the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. Qualified the examination and enrolled as an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court in 1981. Has vast experience in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional, Revenue and Service laws. Central Government Standing Counsel from December 1990 to December 1996. Designated as Senior Advocate in February 1997. Appointed as Additional Solicitor General of India on 14th July 1998.Appointed as Judge of the Supreme Court on 4th June 2012. Member of the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee of the Supreme Court of India since its inception in 2005. The judge in charge of the E-Committee of the Supreme Court of India. Appointed as one Man Committee to suggest improvements in the working of the Homes and organization under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection and Children) Act, 2000 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules,2007.

S.N. Sahu


Mr  S.N. Sahu is a career bureaucrat and has served the Government of India in various positions in a career spanning multiple decades. He is a graduate of Jawaharlal university and has gone onto earn an MPhil in political science. He joined the secretariat in the year 1989, and has served the government of India in various positions of responsibility. He holds the distinction of working as a joint secretary in the Rajya Sabha secretariat, prime minister’s office, press secretary to the president and in a number of other posts in a career spanning more than 3 decades. During his tenure in the president’s office, he had been instrumental in establishing the media cell, which is now functioning as a fully-fledged unit of the secretariat.

He has a keen interest in academic writing, research, and has published articles in a number of journals such as Indian Institute of Public administration, Journal of Law, Gujarat national Law university. He has also written a book called ‘Essay’s on Gandhi’ in collaboration with the Rajarammohan library, Kolkata.He has travelled to a number of countries and has delivered lectures on political thought, Gandhian thought, electoral reforms, environmental crisis and climate change in a number of universities such as University of Illinois, Chicago, Osaka university, and George Washington University to name a few.

He was conferred with the Vocational Award for Excellence by the Rotary Club of Mumbai and Thane in 2007 for purposeful contributions to society through academic studies.

Sriram Panchu

Shriram PanchuSriram Panchu is a Senior Advocate and Mediator. He is acknowledged as a pioneer of mediation in India. From the 1990s, he has been mediating cases and creating awareness about the concept of mediation through his writings and speeches. He was instrumental in creating India’s first court-annexed mediation centre, a model replicated by other Courts in the country with his help.. He mediated the Standard Motors case which recorded one of the highest settlements in court-annexed mediations..

Recently, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of India to mediate a 50- year-old boundary dispute between the States of Assam and Nagaland in Northeast India. Prof. (Dr.) Neelakanta Ramakrishna Madhava Menon

NLAIUProf. (Dr.) Neelakanta Ramakrishna Madhava Menon, is an Indian legal educator, considered by many as the father of modern legal education in India. He is the founder Director of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and the founder Vice Chancellor of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS). Menon was honored by the Government of India, in 2003, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. He was the president of the Bar Council of India during the period, 1994–98, was conferred the Living Legend of Law Award by the International Bar Association in 1994.He is also a recipient of the Rotary Club Award for Vocational Excellence and the Plaque of Honour from the Bar Council of India. He is a Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and Columbia University.

Mr. Prathamesh D. Popat

Ajay Mehta


Mr. Ajay Mehta is an independent law practitioner practicing civil laws for more than three decades and specializing in civil, commercial and matrimonial/family litigation, and also specializing in marriage counselling (matrimonial reconciliation). Mrs. Puja Dewan has been associated with Delhi Dispute Resolution Society (DDRS), a society registered under the Department of Law, Justice and L.A since October 2010. She oversees the work of all 10 mediation centers of DDRS.  During her tenure the total number of matters from 5800 in the year 2013 has surged to 37000 in 2017. She works in the capacity of a Director in DDRS. She completed her graduation in the year 1989 from the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College in Humanities and did her Masters from the Arts faculty North Campus in 1991. She has obtained her L.L.B and L.L.M from Kurukshetra and Maharishi Dayanand University respectively. He is the President of the Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation (IIAM), Vice President of the India International ADR Association (IIADRA) and Executive Committee member of the ADR Law Section of the Indian National Bar Association (INBA).He is the Chairman of the Accreditation Committee of the Asian Mediation Association, Hong Kong to prepare mediation guidelines for AMA Member countries. He is the first IMI Certified Mediator from India and empanelled as International Accredited Mediator of the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), Singapore and the Florence International Mediation Chamber (FIMC) of the Chamber of Commerce, Italy.  He is nominated as one of the world’s leading practitioner in the field of ADR by Who’s Who Legal 2016, London, UK. Was instrumental in developing Community Mediation Service by IIAM and is a member of the CMS Public Committee implementing Community Mediation Clinics in India. Irena Vanenkova is Executive Director of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), The Hague.. Irena is a CEDR-Accredited mediator (1998) as well as holder of the MATA advanced mediation certificate. Irena holds the English Tutor Diploma of The Linguistic University in Moscow (1983), a Bachelor of Economics at the Moscow Institute of Business Studies (1997), and a Diploma in Public Relations Management at the Moscow State University (2001).. Irena’s prior career included positions as Commercial Projects Manager – Russia of International Distillers & Vintners Limited (1992-97), Deputy Chief Representative – Russia of CDR International (1997-98), and Public Relations Manager of IKEA Russia (1999-2006). Prof. Nadja Alexander


PROF. NADJA ALEXANDER is a Professor and Director of theInternational Institute for Conflict Engagement and Resolution (IICER) atHong Kong Shue Yan University.Previously Professor Alexander was Director of ADR at the AustralianCentre for Peace and Conflict Studies.She edits the Kluwer Mediation Blog and the book series Global Trends and Dispute Resolution. Her work on negotiation and mediation has appeared in English, German, French, Russian and Chinese languages. In 2011 her book, International Comparative Mediation, won the CPR Award for Outstanding ADR monograph. Professor Alexander is active as a practitioner, policy adviser, speaker practitioner, policy adviser, speaker and trainer in conflict resolution contexts throughout Asia, Europe, Australia and the Pacific. Policy appointments include the Hong KongMediation Taskforce, the Australian National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC), the Standards Commission of the International Mediation Institute. She has been named one of Australia’s top five law academics by Business Woman Magazine.During 2012-2014 Professor Alexander lead a mediation initiative in Samoa for the World Bank Group.
